沈美华 Shen Mei Hua


 

Born into a family of Yixing Zisha artists, Shen Mei Hua 沈美华 is a Senior Master of Arts and Crafts of China, student and the official inheritor of Li Chang Hong 李昌鸿 and Shen Ju Hua 沈蘧华 - both Great Masters of Arts and Crafts of China and official disciples of the late National Grandmaster of Arts and Crafts, Gu Jing Zhou 顾景舟, who was also the teacher of the late Xu Han Tang 徐汉棠 and Xu Xiu Tang 徐秀棠.

Along with her profound lineage, Shen Mei Hua is a lifelong scholar, graduating from the Arts and Craft Senior Research Class in Beijing Qing Hua University in 2011, and in turn, becoming a distinguished professor at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and Crafts, and venerable member of China’s Arts and Crafts Association and Yixing Zisha Culture and Art Research Association. She is one of the very few artists that owns her gallery in Yixing. Which is a luxury to have for most of the crafters.

Her art and reputation reached global magnitude when one of her influential sets entitled, “The Light of Civilization”, was exhibited at the 2015 World Expo held in Milan, Italy, and The World Cultural Exhibition held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. Indeed, Shen Mei Hua is not only a famed national artist, but an internationally acclaimed cultural figure!

Shen Mei Hua has received and won numerous awards, with one of her works earning a prestigious platform at the 2016 China Contemporary Arts and Crafts Biennale - a national-level institutional exhibition presenting China’s most prestigious master artists and their fine arts. Her one-of-a-kind pieces can be found in galleries all over China, including at her private gallery in Yixing.



True to the pursuit of beauty and innovation, Shen Mei Hua consciously collaborates with other famous and promising contemporary painters and calligraphers, such as Chen Shou Xiang 陈绶祥, Lin Guan Fu 林冠夫, Gu Sen 顾森, Ruan Rong Chun 阮荣春, Wu Jin Chuan 吴锦川, and Lu Shao Qing 吕少卿. Through her art, these talented artists have found the perfect canvas to carve their vision and philosophy, ultimately giving birth to one-of-a-kind notable pieces, such as the “Wu Chan Tang, 祥云九段Auspicious Cloud Jiu Duan”.

Shen Mei Hua’s technique and aesthetic is a reflection of her inheritance from the Great Masters Li Chang Hong and Shen Ju Hua, fused with contemporary flare and personal charm. Her pieces manifest years of tradition, classical training, and academic discipline, yet radiates a vision of masculine vigor, feminine poise, and avant-garde principles unlike any other contemporary works available today. Awards:

2001, "Waves in Taihu lake" Won the bronze award of the third "China fine arts and crafts fair.”

2002, "He Huan series" Won the silver award of the fourth "China fine arts and crafts fair.”

2003,  "Xin Xin Lian" and "Xiangyun Ruyi" were collected into "Jiangsu arts and crafts fair.”

2010, "Jingxi Wave" and "Yiping Blossom" were collected by the art research institute of east China university.

2011, "High De Zhong" was collected by the national art museum of China

2015,  "light of civilization" zisha tea set represented China at the world expo in Milan, Italy.

2016, "light pot of civilization" was selected to the Chinese contemporary arts and crafts biennial. 

2016, "Wu Chan Tang pot. Auspicious cloud Jiu duan" Won the silver award of the second (international) art fair of Jiangsu province.

2017, she took part in "Nianhua -- an exhibition of the returning of the teachers and students in da-yin " in xi 'an.
